IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 3, 2013 — New Focus, a Newport Corp. brand, has released the 8743-CL, a two-channel integrated closed-loop picomotor controller and driver.

The single-box device can be manually controlled with the company’s 8758 hand control pad, or computer-controlled via USB 2.0, RS-485 or Ethernet. Each module can control up to two axes, and up to 31 units can be daisy-chained via the RS-485 interface for larger setups.

The module features advanced picomotor auto detection, an embedded dynamic HTTP server, a cleaner graphical user interface, and LabView and Windows DLL support. All accessories for the 8742 open-loop picomotor controller are compatible with the 8743-CL.
