A40-150C VCSEL Driver IC
VI Systems GmbHRequest Info
BERLIN, July 2, 2010 — VI Systems GmbH is offering a new ultrahigh-speed vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) driver integrated circuit (IC) which is designed for serial data rates of up to 40 Gb/s in short-reach optical communications systems. It is the first generation of ultrahigh-speed and low-power drivers for directly modulated VCSELs.
The A40-150C is designed for use in high-speed optical transceivers and is specified for the next generation of directly modulated VCSEL components with high data rates up to 40 Gb/s. The device can modulate VCSELs with very high frequencies to enable ultrahigh-speed data transmission over a 50-/125-µm multimode fiber.
The device is designed for current modulation of the VCSEL device. Supply voltage is 3.3 V, dimensions are 800 × 600 µm, and typical power consumption is 150 mW, including the VCSEL.
Target applications are short-reach optical receivers and transceiver modules used in optical communications networks and optical interconnects in the computer industry. Serial standards are currently developed within Common Electrical Standard (CEI-28Gb/s) and Ethernet IEEE 802.3ba (40/100 Gb/s) as well as in a number of customer-specific applications. The device is available in die form.
