IMRA-America_Jewel_Diamonds.jpgImra America Inc. has introduced the FCPA μJewel D-1000 ultrafast, ultrashort-pulse fiber laser based on proprietary and patented fiber chirped pulse amplification technology. Offering pulse energies of up to 10 μJ in the near-IR and repetition rates of 100 kHz to 5 MHz, the laser allows users to choose between high-energy operation with 10-μJ pulses at 100 kHz and 1-μJ pulses at 1 MHz. The company says that it has unique ablation properties that enable higher precision in micromachining with reduced thermal effects, debris, recast and burring. The laser facilitates cutting and drilling of transparent materials and causes less collateral damage to the workpiece.
