Mek Americas LLC has announced the SpectorBOX bottom-up and top-down 3D modular automated optical inspection (AOI) system, replacing traditional board-flipping alternatives.
Optimized for the inspection of wave and selective soldering of through-hole and surface-mount technology components, the SpectorBOX inspects printed circuit boards (PCBs) inside solder frames directly from the conveyor.
The device is equipped with nine cameras, including an optional Z-axis moveable head to precisely position and focus for varying PCB distances and warpage. The X-Y drive gantry with ball screw mechanics delivers high-speed inspection while maintaining high accuracy and precision. Specially coated shafts deliver quiet operation while minimizing wear to eliminate maintenance and calibration requirements.
A 5-in. camera clearance enables single-pass inspection of any electromechanical assembly.
