AVALANCHE DIODE

Princeton Lightwave

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email Comments
The InGaAs/InP single-photon avalanche diode from Princeton Lightwave Inc. is designed for photon counting at extremely low light levels. It is intended to replace standard linear mode avalanche photodiodes, which are not optimized for photon counting or Geiger mode operation, according to the company. The 1.5-mm devices, which have low timing jitter, have applications in semiconductor diagnostics, quantum information processing, long-range lidar, long-range terrestrial and satellite free-space communications, biomedical fluorescence in the near-infrared, and scientific instrumentation and quantum cryptography for secure communications.
