Absorption SensorUshio America Inc. has announced the PAS-110 PiCOEXPLORER, a palm-top photoabsorption sensor that can be easily controlled by a smartphone or tablet.

Allowing quick density measurement and detection of protein, heavy metals, endocrine disruptors and DNA, the PiCOEXPLORER does not require use of a pipette. Measurement and analysis is enabled in an unopened PCR tube, incorporating a communications function that allows display of the result in a mobile device.

By allowing measurement of multiple items with a single unit, the device can greatly reduce both the time and the labor required for measurement.
