The Aqualog-Next A-TEEM spectrometer from HORIBA is designed for water research and analysis. The dual-function device simultaneously acquires absorbance and fluorescence excitation-emission matrices for comprehensive spectral data, including nonfluorescent absorbing parameters such as specific UV absorbance, which serves to address the fluorescence inner filter effect issue. The spectrometer is designed to track global colored dissolved organic matter, fluorescence signatures associated with harmful algal bloom monitoring, track fluorescence fingerprints of natural organic matter, and provide optical detection of hydrocarbons at low concentrations, distinguishing them from natural dissolved organic matter. It supports PARAFAC, PCA, and PLS models for decomposition, classification, and regression analysis.
