LANNION, France, May 13, 2011 — Yenista Optics has expanded its multichannel OSICS platform with new variable attenuator and optical switch modules. OSICS is a flexible eight-module rack system that can be configured with distributed feedback lasers or a variety of tunable lasers covering the 1260- to 1650-nm wavelength bands. The new modules add functionality to the platform that can be controlled through a single interface.

The OSICS ATN variable attenuator module provides up to 60-dB attenuation with 0.1-dB resolution and power handling up to 2 W, ensuring compatibility with nearly all power control requirements, even in high-channel-count dense wavelength division multiplexing applications. The module is available in single-mode and polarization-maintaining fiber configurations.

The OSICS SWT single-mode optical switch modules are available as 1 × 1 (shutter), 1 × 2, 1 × 4 and 2 × 2 types with low insertion loss, low polarization-dependent loss, fast switching times and repeatable operation. The switches are also available in a polarization-maintaining fiber version with a high polarization extinction ratio.

The OSICS platform is used in both research and production environments.
