SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 17, 2021 — Autofocus Image SensorThe ISOCELL GN5 image sensor from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is a 1-μm device that integrates Dual Pixel Pro, an all-directional autofocusing technology.

The technology places two small photodiodes within each 1-μm pixel of the sensor, either horizontally or vertically, to recognize pattern changes in all directions. With one million phase-detecting multidirectional photodiodes covering all areas of the sensor, the ISOCELL GN5’s autofocusing becomes instantaneous, enabling sharper images in either bright or low-lit environments.
