Heptagon has announced OLIVIA 3DRanger, an intelligent optical module featuring an integrated microprocessor, adaptive algorithms, advanced optics, time-of-flight sensor and light source.

The system can accurately measure distance up to 2 m in normal lighting conditions, functioning reliably with constant performance independent of an object's reflectance.

Heptagon's phase modulation time-of-flight pixel design allows distance-sensing modules to deliver high measurement accuracy and precision. Olivia monitors the environmental ambient light, automatically adjusts exposure settings and calculates the distance.

The system is suitable as a camera autofocus assist unit to enable fast autofocus lock for primary and front-facing smartphone cameras. It can also be used as a proximity sensor.
