SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 15, 2012 — BaySpec Inc. has released its next-generation high-resolution 1064-nm Raman spectrometer, the RamSpec-HR. The newly designed research-grade benchtop instrument delivers high sensitivity and spectral resolution for the wavelength range up to 1700 nm.
It is suited for process control, routine analytical analysis, reaction monitoring, materials identification and mixture analysis. A lighttight sampling chamber improves ease and accuracy of sample measurements.
The spectrometer integrates multiple efficient volume phase gratings customized for each specific wavelength region and deep-cooled InGaAs array detectors, providing a compact instrument with maximized light throughput. Without any interferometric type of mechanical moving parts, it is designed for long-term stability, ruggedness and fully automated push-button operation. With 1064-nm near-infrared excitation, it is suitable for use in cell biology, forensic, materials science and food analysis applications when fluorescence background signal often obscures the Raman signal.
Features include a spectral range from 150 to 3200 cm−1; spectral resolution of 4 cm−1; automated wavelength calibration; a compact size for portability; and customization with various fiber optic probes.
The cost-effective instrument is dispersive and offers optimized detector cooling.
