Coherent Inc. has introduced two bioinstrumentation lasers, the Sapphire 488 LP and the Sapphire 561 LP. Available in an OEM and CDRH (Center for Devices and Radiological Health) configuration, they measure 125 x 70 x 34 mm, offering ease of integration into benchtop instrumentation. The 488 LP version offers 150 mW of CW output at 488 nm, while the 561 LP provides 200 mW of power at 561 nm. Both models deliver a beam quality of M2 <1.1, low noise of <0.25% rms from 20 Hz to 2 MHz, and high pointing stability of <30 µrad. Applications include flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and sequencing in genomics and proteomics.
