Biological Safety Cabinets

MILFORD, Mass., March 16, 2010 – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has introduced the energy-efficient 1300 Series A2 biological safety cabinets.

Thoroughly tested and certified by NSF, the models are available in both coated interior and one-piece stainless steel interior options. Both offer a reduced airflow using a smaller 203.2-mm aperture to extend the life of the high-efficiency particulate air filters by 20 percent while requiring only 180 W to operate. Lower airflow exhaust also minimizes the cost of laboratory air exchange when these cabinets are thimble-ducted for hazardous applications.

The cabinets employ a SmartFlow airflow compensation system that maintains a safe environment for the user. This feature is combined with digital airflow verification, which independently monitors product and personnel protection and alerts the user if safety is compromised. The lower airflow requirements of the series can reduce noise levels to as low as 62 dB, resulting in a more comfortable working environment within the laboratory. These features provide containment, comfort and convenience, making the devices a good choice for the user and for the environment.
