RICHMOND, British Columbia, Canada, Jan. 6, 2013 — Point Grey Research Inc. has released the Blackfly camera.
The first model, BLFY-PGE-13E4, features a 1.3-megapixel 60-fps CMOS global shutter sensor available in both monochrome and color. It consumes <2 W of power in a small and light Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) power over Ethernet (PoE) package.
Applications include machine vision, outdoor imaging, automation, 3-D imaging and license plate recognition.
The BFLY-PGE-13E4 uses the EV76C560 CMOS sensor from e2v, which has a global shutter readout architecture to prevent geometric distortion when capturing images of fast-moving objects. The CMOS pixel design addresses the blooming and smearing artifacts caused by bright sources or reflections in the camera’s field of view.
It measures 29 × 29 × 30 mm and features temperature and status monitoring, in-field updatable firmware, color interpolation, a look-up table, gamma correction and pixel binning.
