KYOTO, Japan, May 3, 2018 — Blue Direct-Diode LaserThe BLUE IMPACT high-brightness blue direct-diode laser from Shimadzu Corp. offers output in excess of 10 W obtained from a core diameter of 100 μm at the 405- or 450-nm band, which revolutionizes laser processing.

Unique coupling technology utilizes multiple blue laser diodes and small core fibers. Blue lasers enable high-quality processing of gold and copper, which are difficult to process by a conventional IR laser because of their high reflection characteristic for yellow materials.

BLUE IMPACT focuses on effective light-concentrating at the workpiece surface and achieves a high brightness of 1.2 × 106 W/cm2

The system is ideal for laser light source in 3D printing, coating, cladding, microwelding, soldering, brazing, marking, and cutting.
