Broadband Fiber Optic Cables
Avantes BVRequest Info
APELDOORN, Netherlands, Dec. 9, 2012 — Avantes BV has announced its broadband fiber optic cables for use from 250 to 2500 nm. Available directly, this gives users the broad range of two fibers combined into one, without any loss of signal.
Until now, users of fiber optic cables had to choose between a fiber for lower-wavelength ranges and those for the higher ranges. The broadband fiber eliminates this choice. The fibers combine the throughput of the previous-generation UV/VIS and VIS/NIR cables and perform better, the company says.
Changing the previous fibers was easy in a standard setup. But when using a fiber optic cable inside a device, such as the company’s fiber optic multiplexer or vacuum feedthrough, users had to know beforehand exactly which wavelengths they were planning to measure. The new broadband fibers are suitable regardless of the setup.
They are available in all fiber optic assemblies, including reflection probes, dip probes and multifurcated fiber optic assemblies. They are also are available for customer-specific designs.
