Point Grey Research Inc.’s two new Blackfly cameras feature global shutter CCD sensors that provide low read noise, quantum efficiency near 70 percent and improved near-IR response.
The 1/3-in., 0.5 MP BFLY-PGE-05S2 model uses the ICX693 Super HAD CCD II sensor from Sony and supports 808 × 608 resolution at 50 fps. The sensor offers a 6-µm-square pixel with signal-to-noise ratio performance similar to the ICX424 device. The 1/3-in., 0.9-MP BFLY-PGE-09S2 uses the ICX692 EXview HAD CCD II from Sony and supports 1288 × 728 resolution at 30 fps.
The cameras support cable lengths of up to 100 m using Gigabit Ethernet. They are compatible with third-party imaging libraries via the GigE Vision standard and include Power over Ethernet, temperature and status monitoring, in-field updatable firmware, color interpolation, a look-up table, gamma correction and pixel-binning functionality. With their combination of sensors, 29 × 29 × 30-mm enclosure size, they are suited for factory automation and analog camera replacement.
