The Ceramacast 586 from Aremco Products Inc. is a ceramic adhesive and potting compound for assembling high-temperature electrical components, including heaters, halogen lamps and temperature sensors for applications to 2800 °F. The zirconium-silicate-based, phosphate-bonded compound offers a dielectric strength of 220 V/mil and volume resistivity of 1011 (omega) cm. The compressive strength is 8000 psi, and the coefficient of thermal expansion is 2.7 in./in./°F x 10-6. The adhesive can be used with pneumatic dispensing equipment and has a pot life of 1 h and a hardening time of 6 to 8 h.
