CMOS Area Scan CamerasThe SP-12401-PGE from JAI Inc. is a 12.4-MP camera in the Spark Series of high-resolution area scan cameras.

The monochrome model SP-12401M-PGE and the color model SP-12401C-PGE are both built around the Sony Pregius IMX304 CMOS imager, which features 3.45-μm pixels and a dark noise rating of <2.5 e- for excellent image quality even under low light conditions. The cameras also include 24- and 32-bit in-camera interpolation using a sophisticated 5 × 5 de-Bayering algorithm.

The cameras are equipped with a standard GigE Vision interface capable of running at 9.3 fps for 8-bit monochrome or raw Bayer images at full resolution. The SP-12401-PGE models are housed in a second-generation enclosure that is considerably smaller than previous Spark Series cameras, while maintaining the high shock and vibration ratings of the earlier models.
