CMOS Distance Image Sensors
Hamamatsu CorporationRequest Info
Hamamatsu Corp. has introduced three CMOS image sensors for real-time distance measurement using a time-of-flight method. Models S11961-01CR, S11962-01CR and S11963-01CR are suitable for obstacle detection and shape and gesture recognition for robots, collision avoidance for vehicles, and intruder detection for security applications.
The detectors can sense a distance of several meters and have a spectral response range from 400 to 1100 nm with peak sensitivity in the 800-nm region, matching them with pulsed light sources such as LEDs and laser diodes for time-of-flight measurements. They drive the light sources and have a built-in timing generator.
The S11961-01CR is a 256-pixel linear array with a pixel size of 20 × 50 µm; the S11962-01CR is a 64 × 64-pixel array with a pixel size of 40 × 40 µm; and the S11963-01CR is a 160 × 120-pixel array with a pixel size of 30 × 30 µm. Both the S11961-01CR and S11963-01CR models have a background subtraction capability to eliminate stray light. Evaluation boards are available.
