PHOENIX, March 28, 2016 — ON Semiconductor has announced the AR0135 global shutter CMOS image sensor, a 1/3-in, 1.2-MP imaging device to address the requirements of automotive imaging, high-speed barcode scanning, virtual reality and 3D depth sensing.

The sensor incorporates a global shutter pixel design with 10× lower dark current and 4× higher shutter efficiency than previous generations. The device provides clear, low-noise images in both low-light and bright scenes, as well as high-temperature environments, enabling required eye-tracking and feature detection functionalities.

The 1280 × 960-resolution device is capable of 54 fps at full resolution and 720p at 60 fps, including a broad set of features to improve overall system control, such as flash and trigger pins used to simplify control of external LED light sources, and more easily synchronize multiple sensors for stereo camera applications.
