The 1050C cable aligner from Photon Kinetics Inc. is a next-generation automated multifiber handler that takes advantage of mass fiber preparation tools and cassette loading of multiple ribbon or loose tube fiber holders to speed the aligner loading process.

The 1050C uses reliable video profile alignment and automated index-matching oil application to couple each fiber to the optical time-domain reflectometer with low optical loss and reflectance. Other capabilities offered by the 1050C include its ability to align both conventional 250-μm and high-density 200-μm coated fibers, whether packaged as loose tubes or fiber ribbons.

The device enables automated, unattended measurements. Operators perform cable-end preparation, fiber stripping, and cleaving processes in parallel with measurements, providing no zero impact on test station output.
