Chips on BoardThree series of LUXEON chips on board (COBs) have been announced by Lumileds BV for spotlights and downlights.

The Gen 2 LUXEON CX Plus CoB; the High-Density LUXEON CX Plus CoB; and the High-Density Below BBL LUXEON CX Plus CoB are drop-in upgrades. The second-generation arrays feature high performance and a 14% flux improvement over the previous generation. Delivered in a range of light emitting surfaces and correlated color temperatures of 2700 to 5000 K, the arrays provide efficiency of >140 lm/W at 3000 K 80 CRI or 122 lm/W at 3000 K 90 CRI.

All LUXEON arrays utilize a metal-core printed circuit board substrate that is more resistant to cracking during luminaire assembly.
