The Luxeon LED® from Lumileds® BV now features the Biological Innovation and Optimization Systems LLC (BIOS) SkyBlue® LED to provide circadian-focused technology and double previously available chip performance.
The 3030 mid-power LED reduces the lumen per dollar development barrier facing luminaire manufacturers and eliminates a key barrier to bringing better, healthier lighting solutions to market. SkyBlue circadian technology engages with a nonvisual photoreceptor in the eye. During the day, SkyBlue strengthens circadian rhythm, increases alertness, improves focus, and boosts moods. In the evening, SkyBlue creates a warmer atmosphere that promotes natural melatonin production leading to a better night’s sleep.
The Luxeon lumen output in the 3030 package enables an increase in system performance from 110 to 160 lm/W, reducing the bill of materials, enabling utility rebates, and reducing end-user pricing,
