Colored-Glass Alternative Filters

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 22, 2010 – Newport Corp. has introduced a series of colored-glass alternative filters that exhibit durability and wavelength stability in any environment. Available are 34 long-wave pass thin-film filters in four standard sizes to provide good spectral performance. They are suitable for use in applications where very steep transitions from blocking to high transmission are required.
Designed to address the needs of OEM customers, they do not contain any hazardous substances, such as cadmium or lead, rendering them fully RoHS-compliant, which is important because it ensures that the filters, when designed into electronics equipment, will not be subject to unavailability in the European Union.
Proprietary and patented Stabilife coating technology produces thin-film coatings that can withstand harsh environmental conditions, including humidity exposure, extreme temperature, abrasion and water solubility. They are suitable for applications in spectroscopy, optoelectronics, environmental monitoring, immunodiagnostic testing and DNA analysis.
The filters have been tested per ISO 8424 and have high stain resistance (SR1 rating >100-h exposure to 0.5M/1 nitric acid). Cut-on wavelength availability is from 300 to 1000 nm. They provide low autofluorescence and high transmission of 90%, typical.
Spectral temperature sensitivity is <0.0015 nm/°C, coating operating temperature is from -100 to 400 °C, and typical filter thickness is 1.1 mm.
