SAN JOSE, Calif., March 18, 2015 — Oclaro Inc. has announced a new second-generation tunable laser module capable of operating at high temperatures in next-generation data center, metro and regional optical networks.

It also serves as a building block for emerging new applications such as fiber-to-the-home and 4G/5G LTE wireless fronthaul networks that might require dense-wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) functionality in the future.

The second-generation tunable enhanced small form-factor pluggable (SFP+) module operates below 1.5 W from 0 to 70 °C, and supports extended temperatures up to 85 °C with a maximum power consumption of 1.8 W.

Tunable across the full C-band with 96 channels on the ITU-T 50GHz grid, the modules come in zero-chirp, L-band and PIN ROSA variants and offer multirate operation from 9.95 to 11.3 Gb/s.

An avalanche photodetector supports limiting or linear electrical interfaces.
