SAN JOSE, Calif., March 24, 2015 — NeoPhotonics Corp. has announced new low power-consumption 56-Gb/s externally modulated lasers (EMLs) and drivers for both 4 × 100-Gb PAM4 and 8 × 50-Gb NRZ client-side 400-Gb transceivers.
The products enable two types of 400-Gb interfaces. With a PAM4 modulation scheme, the EML and driver can achieve a 100-Gb/s data rate with a single laser. A 400-Gb interface will use four wavelengths with PAM4 modulation. Meanwhile, a traditional NRZ modulation scheme with an EML and limiting driver can deliver 400-Gb of capacity with eight wavelengths.
