The TCS SPE confocal microscope system from Leica Microsystems employs an ultrahigh dynamic PMT detector and four solid-state lasers with wavelengths of 405, 488, 532 and 635 nm. It offers resolutions ranging from 128 x 128 to 2048 x 2048 pixels and Z-plane resolution up to 10 nm. Its continuously variable spectral detector provides a 5-nm resolution and has a 430- to 750-nm spectral bandwidth. The microscope can zoom up to 16x and contains a motorized pinhole that can be adjusted from 35 to 600 μm.
