UITGEEST, Netherlands, Oct. 8, 2010 — Technobis Mechatronics BV’s Cyclops laser combiners are systems in which different wavelengths of laser light are combined and coupled into a broadband polarization-maintaining single-mode fiber. The systems offer a robust light engine based on diode lasers with individual modulation, high switching frequencies and full control over individual laser lines. They feature up to six integrated laser lines, two of which can be used as free ports that can be employed to couple diode-pumped solid-state lasers into the systems for wavelengths into the green/yellow region to complement the integrated GaN diodes in the blue region and GaAs diodes in the red.

They are cost-effective, compact and easy to integrate. They are used for sample excitation in fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry, as well as for white-light displays, laser spectroscopy and color holography.

Available wavelengths and power levels are: 375 nm at 15 mW; 405 nm at 100 mW; 445 nm at 40 mW; 473 nm at 15 mW; 488 nm at 50 mW; and 640, 660, 785 and 808 nm at 100 mW.

Beam diameter is 0.70 ±0.1 mm, pointing stability with free air output is <± 30 µrad/°C and, with fiber output, ±1 µrad/°C. Polarization is > 1:100, beam position is ±0.1 mm, beam angle is ±0.5 mm, rise and fall times are <2 ns, and beam ellipticity is <5%.

Laser safety class is 3 b.

The systems measure 262 × 200 × 55 mm and weigh 3500 g. They have a USB interface and SMB fast modulation inputs, and they operate on a 110/230-V supply. Maximum power consumption is 15 W, and operating temperature is from 15 to 25 °C.
