LightTools version 5.3 has been released by Optical Research Associates (ORA). The design and analysis software has a high-speed photorealistic rendering engine that enables generation of high-quality images of LightTools models that appear to be digital photographs. Users can set backgrounds and apply surface finishes from a vast built-in library. The photoreal views can be produced in any aspect ratio and with resolution limited only by system memory. The “skinned solids” feature enables creation of complex 3-D objects. Multi-CPU capability increases the speed at which the software performs complex photometric analysis and supports up to eight processors in a single PC.
