KANAGAWA, Japan, April 4, 2011 — QD Laser Inc. has introduced the QLD1061, a single-mode distributed feedback (DFB) laser diode emitting in the near-infrared wavelength band around 1064 nm.
The RoHS-compliant device offers strong fiber output power of >30 mW with a stable spectral single mode and a narrow linewidth of <10 MHz. The 14-pin butterfly laser module includes an optical isolator, a monitor photodiode and a thermoelectric cooler and is pigtailed with a polarization-maintaining fiber. It can be used for continuous-wave and pulsed applications such as injection seeding for fiber amplifiers or lasers, sensing, light detection and ranging, and frequency doubling.
Forward current is 250 mA, reverse voltage is 2 V, thermoelectric drive current is 2 A, and thermoelectric drive voltage is 4.3 V. Operating temperature is from 0 to 60 °C. Typical spectral width is 4 MHz FWHM, with a maximum of 20 MHz. Side mode suppression ratio is 40 dB, and polarization extinction ratio is 20 dB.
