A high-resolution digital camera launched by Riegl USA combines photo pixel information with data coordinate information gathered at one or more scanner positions. It takes photogrammetric information at each position and transforms the pixel (camera) coordinates into beam (scanner) coordinates. The camera mounts on any of the company's 3-D scanners and is calibrated with 3-D RiScan Pro software, which performs scanner configuration as well as data acquisition, visualization, manipulation and archiving. The camera takes two types of images to document a scanning project, the first while mounted on the scanner, and the second, not mounted. All images are meshed to the scan data coordinate system. The camera registers six-megapixel photo information with 3-D point cloud data.
