Ladybug 2 from Point Grey Research is a next-generation spherical video camera that operates at a maximum frame rate of 30 fps. The camera head unit consists of six 1024 × 768-pixel color CCDs, five of which are positioned in a horizontal ring in "portrait" orientation to increase the vertical field of view, and the last one of which points straight up. The CCDs and lenses are tightly packaged to minimize parallax effects. Images are transferred from the head via a fiber optic cable at a data rate of 135 MB/s. A software development kit is provided to control the camera settings, to acquire images, and to produce spherical and panoramic images.
