Illumina Inc. has unveiled the Human1M DNA Analysis BeadChip, a device that contains more than 1 million single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on a single chip. Besides targeting a catalog of known copy number variation (CNV) sites, it also targets CNV content unavailable on other arrays or databases. The product is designed to reduce the number of samples that need to be run. When used with proprietary BeadStudio software, SNPs and CNVs can be analyzed simultaneously for a view of DNA variation across the genome.
