Microchip lasers with subnanosecond-pulse duration at 50 kHz and 200-mW output power have been amplified to >15 W using the Midaz Lasers Ltd. Model A50-A diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) air-cooled amplifier. The single-stage amplifier module increases laser output power and eliminates the cost and complexity of using multiple preamplification stages. The combination of seed laser and amplifier can easily integrate into laser systems for micro-machining and marking or can be used for research and development.
