Spectra-Physics Explorer OneSpectra-Physics has announced two new ultracompact Q-switched diode-pumped solid state (DPSS) green lasers for materials processing.

The Explorer One 532-2 is a Nd:vanadate laser targeted for applications that require high pulse repetition frequencies. It delivers >2 W at 532 nm, a 50 kHz repetition rate and single-pulse energy measurement up to 300 kHz. The Explorer One 532-2Y is a Nd:YAG laser that delivers a high pulse energy of >200 µJ at 10 kHz.

Both lasers have short pulse widths (<15 ns) and low pulse energy noise (<3 percent), as well as a typical M2 factor of 1.1 for ultrastable processes and highest production yield.

Applications include micromachining and marking of metals and plastics, laser direct structuring (LDS) in printed circuit board manufacturing, intra-glass marking and thin-film scribing.
