ALPAO.jpgA deformable mirror called the dm88 has been unveiled by Alpao. The mirror is designed to improve the image quality when light propagates through a turbulent media, and it can be used for ophthalmology. It can handle deformations of up to 50 μm because of the large stroke from each of its 88 magnetic actuators, allowing it to compensate for tip/tilt motion in most applications, without the need for an additional low-order correction stage. The mirror has a pupil diameter of 22.5 mm and a pitch of 2.5 mm. It is coated with protected silver and measures 60 × 78 × 20.1 mm.
