Desiccant Plugs Monitor Humidity Inside Containers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., July 16, 2012 — A full line of humidity indicator plugs for monitoring the inside of containers to protect electronics, optics and other moisture-sensitive contents is available from Sphinx Adsorbents Inc.

They provide a visual indication of humidity levels inside a rigid or flexible container, without breaking the seal, and are suitable for use where the preservation of container contents is critical. Featuring color-change elements that turn from blue to pink as relative humidity (RH) increases inside the container, they are available in several shapes and sizes for detecting moisture from 5% to 95% RH and meet MIL-I-26860.

Suitable for installation on metal containers, fiber drums and vapor-proof bags, the indicators are available with reversible color-change cards that are accurate to within ±5%, or maximum color-stain elements that are irreversible and warn that certain RH levels have been exceeded. Applications include packaging, long-term storage and dry chamber maintenance.
