MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 14, 2015 — Version 10.8 of CODE V software from Synopsis Inc. supports the design of asymmetric and freeform optical systems.
Algorithmic enhancements yield highly accurate computations of optical system parameters during ray tracing of asymmetric optical systems, including those with tilted and decentered components, as well as freeform surfaces, enabling precise control during design optimization. Extended aspheric lens formulations are provided with new customization workflows and an expanded materials library.
Aspheric surfaces have been extended to support a nonzero conic constant, and Macro-Plus programming capabilities offer designers flexibility to automate and streamline their optimization, analysis and tolerancing workflows.
Matrix optics allow control of the optical system baseline attributes when using the software's optimization engine. This approach is useful for the analysis of systems such as helmet-mounted and head-up displays, optics-enabled wearables, segmented-aperture telescopes, and unobscured reflective systems.
