The 550CZ-18 long-range target detection and surveillance system from Sierra-Olympic Technologies Inc. is designed for all-weather security applications.

The MWIR imaging system features long-range target detection with recognition capabilities. The 18x continuous zoom lens provides 18° horizontal field of view at a wide angle and 1° horizontal field of view at a narrow angle. The thermal camera system can reliably detect human-sized targets at 18 km in good conditions.

The 640 x 512-pixel resolution, indium antimonide detector with a 15-µm pitch is optimized to operate in the MWIR spectrum for imaging in marine and high-humidity environments. Other all-weather applications include border protection, vessel traffic monitoring, critical infrastructure protection and airport perimeter surveillance.
