Leica Microsystems’ new DMS300 and DMS1000 digital microscope systems are suited for a range of R&D, life science and industrial tasks.

The systems operate without an eyepiece and produce up to 30 images per second, enabling sample inspection and experimental studies. The images are provided by a CMOS digital camera via multimedia interface and can be viewed on an HD monitor or a computer screen via USB interface. The camera also can be operated independently with an IR remote control.

The DMS300 features a 2.5-megapixel camera and is optimized for quality control, inspection and documentation in industrial applications. The swing-arm stand allows it to handle large objects, while the LED ringlight with diffuser minimizes interfering-light reflexes of the specimen.

The DMS1000 features a 5-megapixel camera and is suited for tasks in quality control and R&D. Its FlexAperture technology provides consistent illumination throughout the zoom range, which means that in manual mode, there is no need to readjust the camera settings. Its encoded zoom feature allows the user to make quick measurement checks with the scale bar that adjusts automatically for each zoom setting. The parcentric and parfocal optics achieve a faster change from overview to enlarged detail.

The DMS1000 B is suited for in vitro applications such as stem cell research and artificial fertilization. As the specimen can be observed without eyepieces, the experiment can be carried out in closed laminar floor cabinets, reducing the risk of contaminating the specimen.
