Dage-MTI Technologies has launched a 2048 x 2048-pixel 12-bit FireWire digital camera. The XLM, based on Kodak’s KAI-4021M progressive-scan interline sensor, has good quantum efficiency and 7.4-μm square pixels, and it operates at 7.2 fps. Binning modes of 2 x 2 and 4 x 4 are available for the monochrome model, and 3 x 3 and 5 x 5 for the color version. The device features single-cable operation, requiring no external power supply or control unit; a continuously variable region-of-interest scan up to full resolution; 15 user-defined memory presets; and automatic exposure control. The setup includes a C-mount with adjustable back focus and a 1/4-in.-20 tripod mount.
