Point Grey Research Inc. has expanded its Flea2 family of digital camera systems with the addition of the 2-megapixel model. The FL2-20S4 incorporates the Sony ICX274 1/1.8-in. progressive-scan CCD image sensor with a square pixel array and provides full-resolution 1624 × 1224 images at 14 fps. Available in monochrome and color, the 29 × 29 × 30-mm device maintains the core features of the series, which include compatibility with the IEEE-1394a interface used by the original Flea camera, onboard color processing and white balance, automatic synchronization of multiple cameras, external trigger and strobe output, and low power consumption. The series also is equipped with jackscrew connectors for secure locking, pixel binning and region-of-interest modes via Format_7, in-field hardware upgrades, and the FlyCapture software development kit for image acquisition and camera control.
