Toptica.jpgToptica Photonics has announced the iBeam smart, a compact diode laser for applications such as flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, microlithography, retina scanning and microplate readout. The one-box solution measuring 100 × 40 × 40 mm can upgrade most applications and features an integrated laser controller and power level of up to 150 mW at 660 nm. It delivers a beam diameter of ~1.1 mm 1/e2 and beam quality of M2 <1.2 with a wavefront error of <0.05. Control of laser parameters and status reports is achieved with the RS-232 serial interface and a standard terminal software package.
