PicoQuant.jpgPicoQuant GmbH has unveiled a 531-nm green picosecond pulsed diode laser head that is based on a master-oscillator fiber-amplifier concept with frequency modulation. Measuring 195 × 112 × 24 mm, it is suitable for use in fluorescence and fluorescence lifetime measurement. The instrument can be triggered externally and synchronized with other equipment in the experimental setup. Pulsed at a variable repetition rate from 10 kHz to 40 MHz, the output from the master oscillator – or seed laser – is directly connected to an ytterbium-doped fiber amplifier, boosting the seed laser’s output by >10 dB. The system is based on a spliced all-fiber setup, which the company says makes it maintenance-free.
