STMicroelectronics Direct ToF LidarThe VL53L9 from STMicroelectronics is a direct 3D lidar device that is suitable for applications such as VR or simultaneous localization and mapping. With a resolution of up to 2.3-k zones, the device integrates dual scan flood illumination that allows the lidar to detect small objects and edges and captures both 2D infrared images and depth map information. The VL53L9’s suite of features supports macro up to telephoto photography and enables laser autofocus, bokeh, and cinematic effects for still and video at 60 fps. Additionally, the device delivers ranging from 5 cm to 10 m and comes as a ready-to-use low-power module with its on-chip dToF processing.
