Directly Modulated Lasers from POET Technologies use a distributed feedback structure for use on optical interposer platforms.

The flip-chip assembly technique enables a true single-chip, fully integrated optical engine to be produced at wafer scale, resulting in a low-cost, small-size 100G CWDM4 system with a form factor of 9 × 6 mm. It including banks of four lasers, four monitor photodiodes, four high speed photodiodes, a multiplexer, demultiplexer, and taps for power monitoring. It supports a self-aligned fiber attach unit.

Applications include data centers and communications.
