Distributed Feedback LasersCST Global Ltd. has announced the 1490-nm, 2.5-Gb/s distributed feedback (DFB) lasers for Gigabit passive optical network (GPON) applications.

The 1490-nm laser transmits data downstream from the optical light terminal to the optical network unit, positioned in the home or business. The transmission of data upstream is achieved using a 1310-nm laser of either 1.25 or 2.5 Gb/s.
