Distributed Feedback Quantum Cascade LasersThe distributed feedback quantum cascade laser (DFB-QCL1) CAN module from Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. can oscillate in a single mode under continuous-wave conditions up to a device temperature of 80 °C in the 7-μm wavelength band.

A temperature-controllable type is available with a 15.4-mm diameter that has a built-in thermoelectric cooler. A dedicated mount to drive the module can be also available. The uncooled type is 5.6 mm in diameter.

Applications include high-speed sensing in industrial, environmental and medical fields.
