Andor Technology plc has launched its extended-range, dual-antireflection (AR) technology for the Newton and iDus spectroscopy CCD platforms. The coating extends the near-infrared quantum efficiency of back-illuminated, deep-depletion sensors into the visible and ultraviolet ranges.

Available on the Newton 920 and iDus 420 platforms, the coating broadens the quantum efficiency range of back-illuminated deep-depletion sensors via a new dual-antireflection coating process developed and characterized by e2v. The technology improves sensitivity in the visible and ultraviolet regions, with ~90% or greater quantum efficiency in the 500- to 850-nm range, while maintaining the standard virtual etaloning-free performance of Andor’s deep-depletion sensors in the near-infrared.

Applications include broadband luminescence/photoluminescence and absorption spectroscopy, and multilaser Raman setups.
